New age crystals, minerals, rocks, gems, stones and their uses

Quartz is primarily silicon dioxide (SiO2), but often
contains traces of other elements. These other elements give the other forms of quartz their distinctive colors. Amethyst, Citrine, Rose Quartz, and Smoky Quartz are examples of transparent forms of colored quartz, and are covered in their respective sections.

Quartz crystals are 6 sided crystals, and are found in many configurations.

Single terminated crystals come to a point on one end. The other end is attached to a matrix, the crystals then "grow" from this matrix. They can grow singly or in clusters (a quartz cluster is pictured above). The base of these crystals is often milky in appearance due to imperfections in the crystalline structure of the quartz.

Double terminated quartz crystals have a point on each end. These crystals are not attached to anything, allowing them to form terminations on both ends. They typically have formed in clay or other soft substance.

Phantom crystals are crystals that have had 2 growth phases. After the crystal formed, it later began to grow again. The first termination or point is visible inside the finished crystal as a "phantom." Many consider these to be a more powerful form of quartz crystal.

Window crystals are another unusual kind of quartz. They have the normal 6 sided form, but also have an additional plane or window (usually diamond shaped) that allows you to look into the crystal.

Quartz crystals have properties that make them ideal for many uses. They are a gift from Mother Earth, and represent the pinnacle of evolution in the mineral world. These crystals can strengthen all of the positive htmlects of a person while helping to eliminate negative htmlects such as fear and anger.

Quartz crystal energy is calming and soothing, and can help one overcome stress. This effect can enhance your ability to enjoy life, and make it easier to take steps toward personal growth.

This crystal's influence helps restore balance to your life. Its ability to pass light without distorting it are evidence of quartz's ability to handle all of the energies. As an aid to meditation, quartz can help us focus in on ourselves. It is said to help filter out the distractions that can prevent us from connecting with our true spirit selves. Quartz, then, is a spiritual aid that can help us to connect with the divine essence we all contain.

Double terminated quartz crystals allow energies to flow in both directions. These crystals can help us in communications (where information must flow in both directions), or in any situation where an exchange is needed.

Healers can benefit from the special energy transfer properties of double terminated quartz crystals. They can allow the energies to flow toward you when you tune in to a person to find out what that person needs, and then allow healing energy to flow from you to the person needing the healing.

Phantom crystals can help us to overcome emotional or physical pain. They often remind us of our need for new growth. This new growth can teach us to live in the present and to look ahead instead of living in the past.

Window crystals can teach us the importance of looking within, even if this presents a view that may seem clouded, imperfect, or obscured. People drawn to this type of crystal may have elements in their life that need clarification.

The specific geometry of the point on a quartz crystal can indicate special the properties of that crystal. Look at the largest face of the point and the edges surrounding this face.

5 edges - "Isis crystals" have five edges surrounding the largest sloping face. These crystals amplify the feminine energy, and can help you get in touch with the unselfish or 'feminine' side of yourself. These crystals are useful in balancing your male-female energy.

For men, the Isis crystal will help you become more in tune with your feminine side and to better deal with the htmlects of women that you find troubling or hard to understand.

For women, the Isis crystal will help you regain some of the power and energy that society has taken from you. This type of crystal teaches us that feminine does not mean weak. Anyone doing healing work will benefit from this crystal's power.

6 Edges - A quartz crystal with six edges on the largest face is the most usual type. It acts as an amplifier of energy and can strengthen all of a person's human qualities or energies.

7 Edges - Quartz crystals with 7 edges on their largest point face are known as "channeling crystals." They are useful in finding information buried deep within yourself or information from sources that are outside your normal existence. Channeling crystals amplify the quiet inner voice of your spirit guides, and can be a big help in learning how to channel information, both for yourself and for others.

8 Edges - Crystals with 8 edges on their largest point face are known as "grounding crystals." These crystals can help one understand the practical concerns of our everyday physical world. It's not enough to have access to the information of our universe. Without the ability to apply this information to your life, the information itself is useless. A grounding crystal can help you overcome procrastination, and help you to "stop talking and start walking."
