Smoky Quartz and its properties Physical properties of smoky quartz: Smoky quartz is a brown form of quartz crystal that can range from medium to dark brown due to impurities like iron, carbon, or titanium. Some smoky quartz may contain minute amounts of radium. Smoky quartz has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs' scale, and a specific gravity of 2.65.

This association makes smoky quartz a good choice for those wanting to gain a deeper appreciation of nature or a greater concern for the environment.
