Anise - for flatulence (i.e. gas) -
crush seeds (1 to 2 tehtmloons), pour a cup of boiling water over the
seeds, let stand 5 to 10 minutes, twice a day before meals
(antiflatulance teas work best if taken before the meal)
Balm - good for indigestion 2 to 3 tsp of the leaves in boiling
water.. let steep 15 minutes (twice a day)
Caraway - for flatulence - crush seeds (1 tehtmloon), pour a cup
of boiling water over the seeds, let stand 5 to 10 minutes, twice a day
before meals (antiflatulance teas work best if taken before the meal)
Basil - for nausea, use a tsp of the herb, steep covered in a cup
of boiling water
Bergamot- for upset stomach, nausea and vomiting - 1 tsp herb per
cup of boiling water steeped 15 minutes.
Catnip - for upset stomach - 1 tehtmloon herb per cup of boiling
water, drink once cool (if taken hot, some people find it an
emetic, i.e., it can cause some folks to vomit if taken hot). Best taken
before sleeping, as it also has a sedative quality to it.
Chamomile - for indigestion and stomach cramps - tehtmloon of
flowers in a cup of boiling water, steep it covered
Dandelion - for appetite loss 1 to 2 tsp dried leaves or root in
a cup of boiling water.. can be mixed with peppermint and/or roman
chamomile
Dill - for flatulence - crush seeds (1 to 2 tehtmloons), pour a
cup of boiling water over the seeds, let stand 5 to 10 minutes, twice a
day before meals
Fennel - good for indigestion and gas... in a tea, crush 1 tsp of
the seeds, steep for 15 minutes, drink 1 cup of this tea hot, up to 3
times daily (pretty good tasting too, add honey) note: some folks make a
mixture of caraway, fennel and peppermint for a digestive tea...
Licorice Root - Tea, 1 oz per cup of boiling water, steep a
minimum of 10 minutes. (good also in combination with peppermint)
Peppermint - good for indigestion ... in a tea 2 to 3 tsp leaves,
to one cup boiling water.. let steep 10 minutes, covered... up to 3
times daily, best after the meals
Savory - in a tea to ease cramps from indigestion, 1 tsp dried
herb per cup of boiling water, steep covered for 10 minutes, sweeten
with honey, drink warm or lukewarm.
Thyme - for indigestion 1 tsp of herb steeped for 10 minutes
covered to make a tea.
Wormwood - for indigestion (not for prolonged use, max one
cup)... 1 tsp herb to one cup boiling water.. steeped covered for 10
minutes.. take after the meal
Yarrow - for indigestion... pour 1 cup boiling water over 1 - 2
tsp of the leaves and flowers... steep for 10 minutes covered, take 1
cup 2 -3 times a day after meals.
